Types of hot tub breaks in Windermere

Windermere can refer to a couple of places – there’s the huge Lake Windermere, as well as a namesake town just a mile from the lake’s shores, both in Cumbria, in the north of England. Unsurprisingly, Windermere breaks with hot tubs are often water-centric. From hot tub lodges by rural streams to boathouses on Lake Windermere itself – there are properties for everyone. You can splash out on detached country houses for the whole family, or a boathouse on so-called Millionaire’s Mile, giving you direct access to the water. Or, go for a sleepy hilltop cottage for superb lake views. As far as Lake District lodges go, it doesn’t get much better than being by Lake Windermere.

Places to visit in Windermere

Windermere is home to a lake that’s nicknamed the Jewel of the Lake District. Not only is it the biggest natural lake in England, but it’s also part of the Lake District National Park. The town of Windermere is just over a mile from the lake and its High Street is a hive of activity. It’s shoulder to shoulder with cosy pubs, cafés and fish and chip shops – not to mention the flagship Lakeland store, in case you need to pick up any kitchen gadgets or bakeware. And Windermere’s jetties are the place to go for cruises of the lake.

But Windermere isn’t the only town around. It’s part of a trio of settlements near the lake. There’s teeny-tiny Bowness-on-Windermere, which sits on Lake Windermere’s shores, and Ambleside to the north end of the lake. In Bowness-on-Windermere, you can watch traditional steamboats arrive and leave, or hire rowing boats to explore the waters yourself. Plus, there’s the popular World of Beatrix Potter attraction. Ambleside, meanwhile, is home to lots of outdoor adventure shops, bookshops, gift shops and places to eat, as well as a cinema. And, because it’s tucked in a valley, it’s great for walkers.
